Zen (禅, Japanese; also known as Chan in Chinese and Seon in Korean) is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that emphasizes the importance of spiritual practices, especially meditation, in order to lead the practitioner to direct experience of enlightenment, that is, awareness of the true nature of reality.

10 Zen rules that may help you live a better life:

  • Do one thing at a time. This rule is simple to follow and is about focus.
  • Do things slowly and deliberately.
  • Don't move on to the next task until you're finished.
  • Do less.
  • Put space between things.
  • Develop rituals.
  • Designate time for certain things.
  • Devote time to sitting.

Mantra meditation (Scientific Om)

Om is a sacred 'mantra'. It is considered a universal sound, the seed of all words without reference to any specific religion or god. According to the Big Bang theory, Om is the cosmic sound that initiated the creation of the universe. This sacred syllable is not just one sound, it is actually three, it sounds more like "AUM" and consists of four syllables: A, U, M, and the silent syllable.

Benefits:

  • It improves your sleep quality.
  • Removes any stress and makes you free from anxiety.
  • Helps you to balance your emotions and to remain calm even during stressful situations.
  • Chanting Om brings better focus.

Candle gazing meditation

Candle Gazing Meditation is an open eye meditation where you stare at a flame while trying not to blink or let your eyes water. You allow the image of the flame to occupy your mind as you imagine yourself breathing in and out the flame.
